Pet Food Extruder

The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder makes it possible for pet food manufacturers to produce consistent and accurate structural, flat and filled extruded shapes and sticks, even when working with heavy dough and other characteristics unique to the production of pet treats.

Reading Bakery Systems, headquartered in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, offers more than 120 years of experience in food engineering. Our innovative research and development capabilities enable us to design and manufacture the world’s most advanced unit machines and turnkey systems for the production of pet treats and a wide range of other bakery products.

Our two primary brands – Thomas L. Green and Reading Pretzel – provide mixing, dough handling and forming, auxiliary, baking, and drying equipment that consistently meet the needs of pet food and snack food manufacturers worldwide, and make their production processes safer, more flexible and more efficient than ever before.

Extruded Pet Treats

The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder will enable you to create a variety of structural, flat and filled extruded and co-extruded shapes and sticks. It provides a more flexible, cost-effective alternative to conventional dough forming and sheeting systems for customers who produce a variety of pet treats.

Features include the ability to broaden your product range by substituting different compression heads and dies. Product changeover takes just minutes, and extruders can be configured with multiple die sets in 13? (325mm) and 15? (375mm) wide increments.

For pet treats with fillings, the Reading Pretzel Filled Stick Extruder System, which consists of a Low Pressure Extruder and pump system that combine raw batches of dough and dough filling into a specifically shaped filled rope, is another option to consider.

RBS Science & Innovation Center

At the heart of Reading Bakery Systems is our 30,000 square foot Science & Innovation Center.

Whether you are new to the pet treats industry or trying to improve your production processes or volume, you can work with our team to develop new products; validate new ingredients and test ingredient changes; test new machinery and processing techniques; research innovations in mixing, forming, baking and drying that can increase your profitability; and produce market samples for testing.

The Science & Innovation Center includes a Quality Control Lab with analytical equipment and private conferencing areas. Customers also have access to the Reading Thermal SCORPION® Data Logging Measurement System to help measure and record conditions in the processing oven.

If you are specifically interested in pet treat extrusion, the Center will provide you with an opportunity to develop and test an assortment of extruded and co-extruded products while duplicating conditions you might encounter in full-scale production.

The LP Extruder with bandcutter and Filled Stick Extrusion Systems are available for extruding pet treats using a variety of extrusion and cutting dies. In addition, you are welcome to test batch and continuous mixing concepts as well as baking and drying innovations.

In the Science & Innovation Center, customers have access to a wealth of expertise in manufacturing, research and development, quality assurance, equipment design, production management and process development from our technical staff, as well as assistance in die design and custom equipment development from our engineering staff.

Whether your pet food production process requires a mixer, extruder, moulder, cutter, oven, dryer, or other efficient, cost-effective solution, Reading Bakery Systems delivers an unmatched level of commitment to high quality and customer support.
