Mixing Innovations

Continuous Mixing eliminates the undesirable dough variations that are caused by batch mixing and ensures that all ingredients are incorporated properly.

The Exact EX Continuous Mixer is well-suited to both soft/chewy and hard/crunchy pet food. The system requires less floor space and can be mounted over the forming equipment. Dough delivery can also be automated with a mini-laytime conveyor and chunker or kibbler attachments.

Forming Innovations

  • Extruded and co-extruded pet food: The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder allows you to produce consistent and accurate structural, flat and filled extruded shapes and sticks. Fit with different compression heads and dies to broaden your product range.
  • Rotary moulded pet food: The Thomas L. Green Rotary Moulder efficiently produces high definition, three dimensional shapes by pressing dough into a die roll. The interchangeable die roll is made of engraved brass and can be supplied with segmented rings for simultaneous, multiple shape production.
  • Sheeted pet food: The Thomas L. Green Sheeter creates a consistent dough sheet and Gauging Stations ensure accurate thickness prior to forming. Form scrapless geometric shapes and distinct shapes with the Rotary Cutting Station.
  • Sticks and nuggets: The single-blade Reading Pretzel Guillotine Cutter uniformly cuts products before or after baking, allowing the operator to create a product size as short as one inch (25 mm) at the press of a button.

Oven Innovations

With the Reading Pretzel SPECTRUM OVEN®, customers benefit from a variety of heat transfer combinations in one modular design. The single pass convection baking platform is designed for balanced and consistent baking of pet food and treats. Operators control the product moisture removal rate for maximum quality assurance.

Add a separate optional Multi-Pass Dryer for faster oven speeds, greater production throughput, and more process control. The Dryer efficiently reduces product core moistures, improving overall quality and storage characteristics.
