Pet Food Manufacturing Process

Pet food makers come to Reading Bakery Systems for the world’s most advanced production equipment and systems that can be tailored to their specific manufacturing process.

Reading Bakery Systems offers cost-effective mixing, dough handling and forming, baking, and drying solutions for every part of your pet food process, with production lines capable of producing 125- 1000 kg/ hour.

We serve customers in the global food service and bakery industries, providing high-quality systems for the production of crackers, biscuits, baked potato chips, cookies, pretzels, bread snacks, baked crisps, pet food, pet treats and more.

Mixing Solutions

Continuous mixing with the Exact EX Continuous Mixer helps to produce more consistent dough, a major advantage compared to batch mixing. The mixer is well-suited to both soft/chewy and hard/crunchy pet treats.

A specialized liquid injection system and revolutionary mixer shaft design evenly distribute moisture throughout dough, and create consistent product textures. Dough delivery can be automated with a mini-laytime conveyor and chunker or kibbler attachments.

Forming Solutions

Whether your pet food or pet treats are rotary molded, extruded, sheeted, or in stick or nugget form, Reading Bakery Systems offers a solution that will meet your requirements.

Rotary Moulded: The Thomas L. Green Rotary Moulder produces high definition, three-dimensional shapes by pressing dough into a die roll. Engraved brass die rolls are interchangeable and can be supplied with segmented rings for simultaneous, multiple shape production.
Extruded: The Reading Pretzel Low Pressure (LP) Extruder enables you to produce consistent and accurate structural, flat and filled extruded shapes and sticks. Fit the Extruder with different compression heads and dies to broaden your product range.
Sheeted: The Thomas L. Green Sheeter creates a consistent dough sheet for sheeted pet food and pet treats, and Gauging Stationsensure accurate thickness prior to shape forming. Scrapless geometric shapes and distinct shapes can be formed with the Rotary Cutting Station.
Sticks/Nuggets: The single-blade Reading Pretzel Guillotine Cutter uniformly cuts products before or after baking, allowing the operator to create a product size as short as one inch (25 mm) at the push of a button.

Baking and Drying Solutions

The Reading Pretzel SPECTRUM OVEN® offers a variety of heat transfer combinations in a single modular design. This single pass convection baking platform is designed for balanced and consistent baking of pet food with operator controlled exhaust, air temperature, circulation velocity, and moisture removal rate. Add an optional SPECTRUM Multi-Pass Dryer for faster oven speeds, greater production throughput, and more process control.
