Lights Out Mixing: How and why you should implement a fully automated mixing system

We have all heard the term “Lights out bakery”. The concept is to build a bakery where the lights are not needed because the line is fully automated and no people are required to operate the systems.

While mixing is typically the most complex part of the snack manufacturing process, today’s mixing technology is very close to the “lights out” goal. This is because, while the mixing process is complex, the process consists of sequenced, measurable and controllable steps. Not only are the latest mixers controllable, but the control packages are rich in data to demonstrate the process is repeatable and process history to improve the process in the future.

Decision points are addressed by the integrated controls package and not an operator who requires training and experience. Quality and consistency are confirmed at the beginning of the baking process and not at the end of the process.

This virtual seminar will address the methods and advantages of a fully automated mixing system, including the cost savings that can be realized from an automated mixing system. Attendees will also understand how to determine the level of automation which is best for their operation.
